Open Mentor

OpenMentor consists of several components – In effect, the system consists of two major parts – (a) a learning system, that acquires feedback rules through a training set, and (b) a web interface that uses these rules to provide feedback to teachers.

The main aim of the OpenMentor project was to provide a learning support tool for teachers in further and higher education, which will help them by providing reflective comments on their assessment and feedback of student assignments and coursework.

Open Comment

Open Comment is an open source text recognition question type for Moodle. The way it handles the free text entry from students is to restrict the types of questions that can be employed into three major categories which are:

  • The identification of similarities and differences between key concepts
  • The analysis of numerical data which would lead to inferencing in a given domain
  • The comprehension of a set text
